Mixed Berry Jam

A VERY BERRY JAM!

Homemade jam takes time- unless you follow our very easy microwave method. you can whip up this fruity preserve using berries straight from the freezer, and it’ll be ready to spread onto a crusty bread roll or scone in less than 20 minutes. How clever is that?

STEP 1:

Place 300g of frozen mixed berries or raspberries with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into a microwave-proof bowl

STEP 2:

Microwave on high (1200 watts/100%) for 5 minutes. Then stir in 1 cup (220g) of caster sugar.

STEP 3:

Microwave on high for 5 minutes.  Remove jam from microwave and stir gently to thoroughly dissolve sugar.

STEP 4:

Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Then spoon onto a saucer to check consistency. Next spoon into a sterilised jar. Makes 1 cup 🙂

TIPS AND COMMENTS!!!

  • If the jam is still too runny after step 4, microwave on high for another 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly

  • (to sterilize the jar) place it in a preheated 1OO0 oven for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven just before using fill jar to the top with jam, seal and store in a dark cupboard
